Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver, making this unit as useful in the home as out. This is the player for you: the D1710's supplied AC power adapter accepts inputs from 100 to 240 volts AC (50 or 60 Hz), and the player even reads non-region-encoded DVDs in the European PAL format (there's a switch to choose NTSC or PAL). And the screen's anti-glare, anti-reflective coating lets you view it in bright settings like, say, sun-drenched airplane seats.

The D1710 also comes with an AC adapter and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to three hours of playback (power consumption depends on the operations of the player, such as screen brightness, volume level, etc.).
